Roadmap
EspControl is actively developed and improved based on user feedback. There is no fixed public roadmap — features and priorities evolve based on what users need and what Home Assistant and the hardware support.
Priorities
The next areas of focus are richer controls for Home Assistant workflows that are not already covered by the current card set:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Calendar event preview | Preview upcoming calendar events directly on the panel |
These are planned directions, not commitments. The order and scope may change based on community feedback, Home Assistant support, and what works well on the screen hardware.
Recently Added
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Lights card | Light-specific Switch, Brightness, and Colour Temperature controls grouped into one card type |
| Media card | Playback buttons, volume popup, track position, and now-playing display for Home Assistant media players |
| Climate card | Experimental thermostat/HVAC control card with temperature, HVAC mode, fan, swing, and preset controls |
| Action card state display | Action shortcuts can optionally watch another entity so the card stays highlighted when that state is active |
| Switch off confirmation | Switch cards can ask for confirmation before turning an active device off |
Under Consideration
These ideas are being explored, but are not yet committed for a specific release:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Independent card colour controls | Configure colours per card instead of relying only on global colour settings |
| Images in cards | Add image support for richer visual cards |
| Expanded weather forecasts | Add richer forecast layouts beyond the Weather card's current Tomorrow high/low display |
| Notification service | Send notifications or alerts to the panel from Home Assistant |

How to Get Involved
- Report a bug or request a feature: Open an issue on GitHub. Include as much detail as you can — what happened, what you expected, and any relevant screenshots or log entries.
- Stay up to date: Watch the GitHub Releases page to see when new versions are published. If you have auto-update enabled, your panel will pick up new releases automatically.
